When brainstorming for a product to sell, ask yourself these questions.
- What products or niches are you interested in?
- What products do your circle of friends purchase?
- What problems do you face in your day-to-day life? Are there any products that can solve it?
- What businesses are in your neighbourhood? Can they be converted into an online concept?
- What communities and interest groups are you a part of? Is there anything that interest groups would need or want in their life?
- What products are trending in Korea or Japan? With Korean K-POP and Japanese Anime, there exists an opportunity to import products from different countries and cultures, allowing you to profit by providing access.
- Find winning products in your Facebook Feed! If they are advertising to you and have been in business for 6 months to a year, you can be sure they are making bank!

If budget allows, you should use SEMRush (7-day free trial) to scope out the competition of competing brands and check their keyword strategy and their ads on social media.
Tips for using Google Trends.
Change the default timeline from 2004 to the present. This gives you an idea of whether it’s a stable trend, a cyclical trend, or a one-off interest in the topic.
Find Related Topics. After you enter a search term, you’ll be presented with related products and terms at the end of the page. This can be a treasure trove of related products you can offer in your store.
Keyword Research. It’s important to be targeting buyer intent keywords, and Google Trends helps you a little by giving you “Related Queries”
Timing the Market. These would be one of the rare times you can actually time the market, by looking at cyclical trends you can choose when to ramp up your ad spending when there’s an increasing demand for things like “Christmas Sweaters”
